Does Size Matter?

When it comes to burning solid fuel, size does matter.

There are a whole host of briquettes available on the market, not because manufacturers love producing different shapes and sizes but due to the significant impact, it has on the performance of the fire.

If we take our largest smokeless fuel burnrite due to its size, there will be larger spaces between each oval. This ensures the air can flow around the briquettes far easier, producing more attractive long flames similar to traditional house coal. This does, however, mean that the fuel will burn slightly quicker than a smaller briquette, but in terms of the longevity of the fuel, it will be more than sufficient. This particular fuel would be perfect for open fires and multi-fuel stoves.

HouseFuel Smokeless Ovals are our medium-sized briquette and an excellent all-around performer. Due to their smaller size than Burnrite, there are fewer spaces between the briquettes which the air can flow through. This reduces the ferocity they burn, resulting in a smaller flame and longer fire life. This fuel is a great middle-ground and can be used on many appliances, including open fires, multi-fuel stoves, room heaters and selected cookers.

The smallest-sized briquette in our range is Stovemaster This is the go-to fuel if a long-lasting burn is high on your checklist for the perfect fuel. As the smallest briquette, airflow is at its lowest with the fuel packing together in the firebed with minimum gaps between the fuel. A high anthracite-based fuel, Stovemaster is capable of burning for long durations in the correct conditions. This fuel is perfect for Multi-fuel stoves, cookers and selected boilers.
