DEFRA Approved Fuel

HouseFuel is pleased to announce that their ‘Smokeless Oval’ product is the latest fuel authorised by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs for use in smoke control areas.

These controls, consolidated by the Clean Air Act of 1993 (DEFRA, 2014) were developed to manage what fuels could, and could not, be burnt in designated ‘Smokeless Areas’. Authorisation from DEFRA allows for the HouseFuel Smokeless Ovals to be used nationwide regardless of where the consumer resides.

The authorisation from DEFRA for HouseFuel’s Smokeless Ovals would not have been possible without their close relationship with the fuel’s manufacturer, Maxibrite. This is the first time in Maxibrite’s history they have provided permission for their fuel to be packed and branded by a different company for the approval of DEFRA.

The close relationship between HouseFuel and its suppliers has allowed them to have a successful first year of trading in the fuel industry despite the higher-than-average temperatures (Met Office, 2014). The growth has also boosted the local economy in the North West of England with additional land and office space purchased to accommodate the organisation’s expansion. With a predicted increase in sales in the years to come, there will hopefully be further opportunities for skilled staff to join the team.

2014 will undoubtedly be exciting for HouseFuel as it looks to continue to develop in the solid fuel industry.
